The journey begins with an overland drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola. From here, the trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River through Jagat, Deng and Namrung, passing forests, waterfalls and traditional mountain settlements.
As the trail climbs through Lho and Sama Gaun, Mount Manaslu rises dramatically above the valley. An acclimatization hike toward Manaslu Base Camp helps prepare the body before the route continues through Samdo to Dharmasala.
The trek's greatest challenge is crossing Larkya La at 5,106 metres, with sweeping views of glaciers and surrounding Himalayan peaks. The trail then descends through Bhimthang and Tilje before returning to Kathmandu via Besisahar.
