Experience Born in the Himalayas
Trek and Beyond, a trek and mountain expedition service company in Nepal, was founded by three passionately driven Hyolmo indigenous youth.
The backbone of the company is Mr. Sonam Lama a professional licensed Mountain and Trekking Guide whose journey began as a porter.
As the grandchild of a self-taught technical farmer in Helambu, exploring trails and mountain terrain became more appealing to him than his initial career path.
Despite limited education and language barriers, it took him decades to obtain his first professional trekking license. However, he sustained years of carrying heavy loads as a porter on the same trails, where it is often impossible to proceed without assistance.
Nevertheless, it did not take long for him to acquire his mountain guide license, although he found it challenging to fully comprehend the mountains and their environment over these twenty-five years.
Mr. Sonam Lama has played a key role in guiding clients on almost all 8000-meter mountains in Nepal, as well as trekking the Great Himalayan Trail in 2018 and 2022.
