The Barun Valley Trek is an extraordinary 23-day adventure for trekkers seeking solitude, rich biodiversity and one of Nepal's most pristine high-altitude wilderness environments.
From Tumlingtar, the trail climbs through remote villages and forested ridges into the upper Barun Valley, reaching Sherson and Makalu Base Camp at approximately 5,000 metres.

TREK EXPERIENCE
Untouched wilderness in Makalu Barun National Park
The journey begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and a drive to Chichila. The trail continues through Num, Seduwa and Tashigaon, the last permanent settlement before entering the high and isolated mountain wilderness.
A steep ascent reaches Khongma Danda, where an acclimatization day prepares the body for the upper valley. The route continues through Mumbuk and Nehe Kharka before climbing to Sherson at 4,600 metres.
The trail reaches Makalu Base Camp at approximately 5,000 metres, followed by a full exploration day. The return journey descends through Nehe Kharka, Mumbuk and Tashi Gaon, then follows a lower route through Balung, Pukuwa and Bumling to Tumlingtar.
