The trail travels from Kathmandu toward Dhunche before climbing through beautiful forests to Shin Gompa and onward to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake at 4,380 metres. The journey offers a unique combination of Himalayan landscapes, mountain culture and pilgrimage traditions.
The journey begins in Kathmandu before taking a scenic mountain drive toward Dhunche, passing through winding mountain roads, terraced hillsides and traditional settlements.
From Dhunche, the trail climbs through beautiful forests toward Shin Gompa, also known as Chandanbari. The landscape gradually changes as the trail gains elevation, revealing more dramatic Himalayan terrain.
One of the defining moments of the trek is reaching Gosaikunda Lake at 4,380 metres. Considered one of Nepal's sacred alpine lakes, Gosaikunda holds deep spiritual significance and is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.
After experiencing the lake and high Himalayan landscape, the trail descends back toward Shin Gompa and Dhunche before returning to Kathmandu. The itinerary also includes cultural sightseeing in Bhaktapur before departure.

Take a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Dhunche, passing through winding mountain roads, terraced hillsides and traditional settlements. Dhunche is the starting point for the trek.
Begin trekking from Dhunche through beautiful forests and steadily rising mountain terrain. Continue toward Shin Gompa, also known as Chandanbari, surrounded by peaceful Himalayan landscapes.
Trek higher into the alpine landscape toward the sacred Gosaikunda Lake. The trail gradually leaves the forest behind as the landscape becomes rugged and dramatic. Reach the sacred lake at 4,380 meters and enjoy the spectacular Himalayan surroundings.
Retrace the mountain trail from Gosaikunda toward Shin Gompa. The descent provides a different perspective of the high Himalayan landscape as you gradually return to lower elevations.
Continue descending through forested mountain trails toward Dhunche. Enjoy the changing vegetation and landscapes as the trail returns to the lower Himalayan foothills.
Take the scenic mountain road back from Dhunche to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel and relax after completing the high-altitude section of the Gosaikunda journey.
Visit the historic city of Bhaktapur and explore its beautifully preserved medieval architecture, traditional squares, temples and cultural heritage.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey, concluding your Gosaikunda Lake trekking and cultural experience in Nepal.
