MAKALU BASE CAMP SHERPA COL MERA PEAK CLIMBING ITINERARY

Day 1:

Arrival in Kathmandu & Transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, take the rest of the day to relax and acclimate to the city’s atmosphere. In the evening, attend a detailed briefing session to discuss the upcoming trek and climb, receive your trek pack, and finalize preparations. This meeting will cover the itinerary, safety protocols, and answer any questions you might have.

Day 2:

Kathmandu Exploration and Preparation

Spend the day exploring Kathmandu's rich cultural heritage. Visit iconic sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, or Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will also finalize any last-minute gear purchases or rentals needed for the trek and climb. This day is essential for preparing both physically and mentally for the challenges ahead, ensuring you are fully equipped for the journey.

Day 3:

Fly to Tumlingtar & Drive to Chichila

Early in the morning, board a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. The scenic flight offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, embark on a drive from Tumlingtar to Chichila, which takes approximately 6-7 hours. The drive takes you through winding roads with changing landscapes, from lush terraced fields to hilly terrain. Arrive in Chichila and settle into your lodge, preparing for the trek ahead.

Day 4:

Trek from Chichila to Num

Begin your trek from Chichila to Num, a journey of about 6-7 hours. The trail traverses through terraced fields, verdant forests, and traditional villages. As you gain altitude, enjoy the increasing views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Num is a small village that offers a glimpse into the local Sherpa culture and serves as a good place to acclimate to the increasing altitude.

Day 5:

Trek from Num to Seduwa

Continue trekking from Num to Seduwa, a distance covered in approximately 6 hours. The route offers a variety of landscapes, including lush forests and river valleys. As you approach Seduwa, you’ll experience the charm of the local Sherpa community and their traditional lifestyle. Seduwa provides a great opportunity to relax and prepare for the higher altitudes you’ll encounter in the coming days.

Day 6:

Rest & Acclimatization Day in Seduwa

Take a well-deserved rest day in Seduwa to acclimatize to the altitude. This day is crucial for preventing altitude sickness and allowing your body to adjust. Optional short hikes around Seduwa will help in acclimatization and allow you to explore the local area. The rest day is also an excellent opportunity to interact with local villagers and learn about their way of life.

Day 7:

Trek from Seduwa to Tashigaon

Embark on a trek from Seduwa to Tashigaon, which takes approximately 6-7 hours. This segment of the trek offers stunning views and diverse terrain, gradually leading you higher into the Makalu region. Tashigaon is a picturesque village where you will experience the local culture and get accustomed to the altitude. This stopover will help in adjusting to the higher elevations as you progress further.

Day 8:

Rest & Acclimatization Day in Tashigaon

Another acclimatization day is spent in Tashigaon. This additional day helps to further adjust to the altitude before tackling the higher sections of the trek. This day also allows you to prepare mentally and physically for the upcoming higher-altitude trekking.

Day 9:

Trek from Tashigaon to Khongma

Trek from Tashigaon to Khongma, a journey of about 6 hours. The trail ascends through alpine meadows and offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Khongma is situated at a higher altitude, providing a fantastic vantage point to appreciate the rugged beauty of the Makalu region. Day 10:

Trek from Khongma to Dobato

Continue your trek from Khongma to Dobato, covering approximately 6 hours. The route takes you through high-altitude terrain and offers breathtaking views of the Makalu Barun National Park. Dobato serves as an important acclimatization stop before reaching even higher altitudes. Enjoy the serene environment and prepare for the next phase of your adventure.

Day 11:

Trek from Dobato to Yangle Kharka

Trek from Dobato to Yangle Kharka, which takes about 5-6 hours. As you ascend, the landscape transitions to more rugged terrain. Day 12:

Trek from Yangle Kharka to Makalu Base Camp

Day 13:

Day 14:

Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Sherpani Col Base Camp

Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Sherpani Col Base Camp, which takes around 5-6 hours. This segment is crucial as it prepares you for the high-altitude crossing ahead. Sherpani Col Base Camp is strategically located to facilitate the challenging ascent over Sherpani Col, and setting up camp here allows you to be well-prepared for the next day's crossing.

Day 15:

Cross Sherpani Col and Descend to West Col Camp

Cross Sherpani Col, which requires 6-8 hours of strenuous effort. The crossing involves navigating challenging terrain, but rewards you with breathtaking views. After crossing, descend to West Col Camp for the night. This camp serves as a crucial point for acclimatization and preparation for the continued journey through the Cols.

Day 16:

Rest/Acclimatization Day at West Col Camp

Take a rest day at West Col Camp to acclimatize and recover from the Sherpani Col crossing. Use this time to prepare for the next stages of the trek, including the crossing of the East Col and ascent to Baruntse Base Camp. The rest day is crucial for maintaining your stamina and ensuring a successful climb ahead.

Day 17:

Trek from West Col Camp to Baruntse Base Camp via East Col

Trek from West Col Camp to Baruntse Base Camp, passing through East Col (5-6 hours). The route offers spectacular views and challenging terrain. Arriving at Baruntse Base Camp, you’ll be surrounded by high peaks and serene landscapes, setting the stage for the final leg of the trek and climb.

Day 18:

Trek from Baruntse Base Camp to Seto Pokhari (White Lake)

Trek from Baruntse Base Camp to Seto Pokhari (White Lake), a distance of approximately 5-6 hours. Seto Pokhari is known for its beautiful lake and serene surroundings. Day 19:

Trek from Seto Pokhari to Khongma Dingma

Day 20:

Trek from Khongma Dingma to Mera La

Trek from Khongma Dingma to Mera La (5-6 hours). Mera La is a high-altitude pass that serves as the gateway to Mera Peak. Set up camp and prepare for the final ascent to Mera High Camp.

Day 21:

Trek from Mera La to Mera High Camp

Trek from Mera La to Mera High Camp (4-5 hours). Mera High Camp is strategically located to provide a good base for the final summit attempt. Acclimate and prepare for the ascent to Mera Peak, ensuring all gear and supplies are ready.

Day 22:

Climb Mera Peak from High Camp & Return to Base Camp

Early in the morning, begin your ascent to Mera Peak (6476m). The climb requires a significant effort but rewards you with panoramic views of the Himalayan range. After reaching the summit, descend back to Mera Base Camp (6-8 hours) for a well-deserved rest.

Day 23:

Trek from Mera Base Camp to Kothe

Trek from Mera Base Camp to Kothe (5-6 hours). This descent provides a transition from the high-altitude environment back to more moderate conditions. Enjoy the lush greenery and relaxed pace as you make your way to Kothe.

Day 24:

Trek from Kothe to Chhutanga

Continue your trek from Kothe to Chhutanga (6-7 hours). The trek passes through scenic landscapes and traditional villages. Chhutanga offers a comfortable place to rest and reflect on your journey.

Day 25:

Trek from Chhutanga to Lukla

Trek from Chhutanga to Lukla (6-7 hours). The route offers picturesque views and marks the final leg of your trek. Celebrate your achievement and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Lukla.

Day 26:

Fly Back to Kathmandu

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. The scenic flight provides one last opportunity to enjoy the Himalayas from above. Arrive in Kathmandu, where you can relax, enjoy a celebratory dinner, and reflect on your adventure.

Day 27:

Transfer to the Airport for Final Departure

Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. Conclude your incredible journey with memories of a challenging and rewarding adventure in the Himalayas.
