ISLAND PEAK TREK ITINERARY
Day 1:
Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu, where you'll meet with your trekking agency to finalize permits and gear. Use any free time to explore the city’s vibrant streets and historic sites.
Day 2:
Kathmandu
Attend a pre-trek briefing to go over the climb details and ensure your gear is in top shape. Explore Kathmandu’s cultural highlights, such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Boudhanath Stupa.
Day 3:
ly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla in the morning. After landing, begin your trek to Phakding, a gentle start that helps with acclimatization to the higher altitude.
Day 4:
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, a bustling town and important acclimatization stop. Enjoy the views and get ready for the higher altitudes.
Day 5:
Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
Spend the day acclimatizing by taking a hike to nearby viewpoints like the Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village, which also helps in preparation for higher altitudes.
Day 6:
Trek to Tengboche
From Namche, trek to Tengboche, which is home to a renowned monastery and offers stunning views of Everest. This stop continues the acclimatization process.
Day 7:
Trek to Dingboche
Continue your trek to Dingboche, passing through the village of Pangboche. Dingboche sits at a higher altitude, aiding your acclimatization for the upcoming climb.
Day 8:
Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Take a day to hike around Dingboche, possibly to places like Nagarkot or Chhukung, to enhance acclimatization before heading further up.
Day 9:
Trek to Lobuche
Hike from Dingboche to Lobuche, stopping at memorials for climbers who have perished on Everest. This stage prepares you for the higher altitudes you will face soon.
Day 10:
Trek to Gorak Shep and Visit Everest Base Camp
Travel from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, then continue to Everest Base Camp. This day provides a firsthand experience of the base camp and the surrounding environment.
Day 11:
Hike to Kala Patthar and Return to Pheriche
Early in the morning, hike to Kala Patthar for breathtaking views of Everest. Descend afterward to Pheriche for a more comfortable altitude and additional rest.
Day 12:
Trek to Chhukung
From Pheriche, trek to Chhukung, which serves as a key acclimatization stop and prepares you for the climb ahead.
Day 13:
Trek to Island Peak Base Camp
Continue from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp. This spot is crucial for final preparations before attempting the summit.
Day 14:
Island Peak Summit Attempt
Start your summit attempt early in the morning. After reaching the summit of Island Peak, return to Base Camp for rest.
Day 15:
Return Trek to Pangboche
Descend from Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche, taking time to rest and recover from the climb.
Day 16:
Trek to Namche Bazaar
Hike back to Namche Bazaar, retracing your route through the Khumbu region and enjoying a more relaxed pace as you return.
Day 17:
Trek to Lukla
Complete your trek by heading to Lukla, preparing for your return flight to Kathmandu.
Day 18:
Fly to Kathmandu
Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Spend the day relaxing, celebrating your achievements, or doing some last-minute shopping or sightseeing.
Day 19:
Departure from Kathmandu
Transfer to the airport for your departure. If you have extra time, explore more of Kathmandu or simply relax before your flight.
