BARUN VALLEY ITINERARY

Day 1:

Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

Upon arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you'll be greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, you can take the rest of the day to relax and adjust to the city’s environment. In the evening, you’ll attend a briefing session where you'll receive detailed information about the trek, including an overview of the itinerary and safety protocols. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have and finalize any last-minute preparations.

Day 2:

Sightseeing in Kathmandu & Trek Preparation Day

Spend the day exploring Kathmandu’s cultural landmarks, such as the Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Pashupatinath Temple. These sites offer a rich insight into Nepal’s history and spirituality. The afternoon will be dedicated to finalizing trek preparations, including checking and purchasing any last-minute gear. Enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner in the evening and meet with your guide to review the trekking plan and ensure you are well-prepared for the adventure ahead.

Day 3:

Fly to Tumlingtar (518m) & Drive to Chichila (1980m)

Start your day with an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, which provides stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Tumlingtar, embark on a scenic drive to Chichila. This drive takes approximately 5-6 hours and traverses through varied landscapes, including terraced fields and hilly terrain. Once you arrive in Chichila, settle into your lodge and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 4:

Trek from Chichila to Num (1560m)

Begin your trek from Chichila to Num, a journey that takes about 6-7 hours. The trail passes through terraced fields, lush forests, and traditional villages, providing scenic views of the surrounding hills. Num, a small village, offers a good base for acclimatization and gives you a chance to experience the local culture.

Day 5:

Trek from Num to Seduwa (1500m)

The trek from Num to Seduwa takes approximately 5-6 hours. The path follows a picturesque route through dense forests and river valleys. Seduwa is a charming village where you can interact with the locals and enjoy the serene environment. This stop is important for acclimatization and preparing for higher altitudes.

Day 6:

Trek from Seduwa to Tashi Gaon (2100m)

Embark on a 5-6 hour trek from Seduwa to Tashi Gaon. The trail leads through beautiful landscapes, including alpine meadows and traditional villages. Tashi Gaon, situated at a higher altitude, offers a great opportunity to rest and acclimate before ascending further.

Day 7:

Trek from Tashi Gaon to Khongma Danda (3500m)

The trek from Tashi Gaon to Khongma Danda involves a challenging ascent over approximately 6-7 hours. As you climb, you’ll experience dramatic changes in scenery, with breathtaking views of the Makalu Barun National Park. Khongma Danda, perched at high altitude, provides a critical acclimatization point.

Day 8:

Rest Day at Khongma Danda (3500m)

Take a well-deserved rest day at Khongma Danda to acclimatize to the high altitude. Use this day to explore the area, relax, and prepare for the next stages of the trek. This rest period is essential for preventing altitude sickness and ensuring a successful trek.

Day 9:

Trek from Khongma Danda to Mumbuk (3570m)

Continue your trek from Khongma Danda to Mumbuk, covering a distance of about 5-6 hours. The trail traverses through diverse high-altitude terrain and offers stunning views. Mumbuk serves as a comfortable stop for further acclimatization before continuing the journey.

Day 10:

Trek from Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka (3750m)

Trek from Mumbuk to Nehe Kharka, which takes approximately 6-7 hours. The route features varied high-altitude landscapes and provides magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. Nehe Kharka is an ideal location for rest and acclimatization.

Day 11:

Trek from Nehe Kharka to Sherson (4600m)

Ascend from Nehe Kharka to Sherson in about 5-6 hours. This section of the trek offers spectacular views and a rewarding sense of achievement as you approach higher altitudes. Sherson provides a critical base for acclimatization before reaching Makalu Base Camp.

Day 12:

Trek from Sherson to Makalu Base Camp (5000m)

The trek from Sherson to Makalu Base Camp takes approximately 5-6 hours. As you make your way to the base camp, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views of Makalu and neighboring peaks. Arriving at Makalu Base Camp is a significant milestone, and the camp offers a stunning setting for relaxation and exploration.

Day 13:

Explore Makalu Base Camp (4870m)

Spend the day exploring Makalu Base Camp. Take time to enjoy the magnificent views, explore the surroundings, and relax after the trek. This day provides a valuable opportunity to acclimate further and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

Day 14:

Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Nehe Kharka (3000m)

Descend from Makalu Base Camp back to Nehe Kharka. This trek, which takes about 5-6 hours, offers a different perspective of the landscape and helps with acclimatization as you return to a lower altitude.

Day 15:

Trek from Nehe Kharka to Mumbuk (3570m)

Return from Nehe Kharka to Mumbuk, covering approximately 5-6 hours. The descent provides a chance to reflect on your journey and enjoy the changing scenery. Mumbuk serves as a comfortable base for rest.

Day 16:

Trek from Mumbuk to Khongma Danda (3470m)

Trek from Mumbuk to Khongma Danda, a journey of about 5-6 hours. As you make your way back, take in the scenic views and enjoy the familiar surroundings of Khongma Danda.

Day 17:

Trek from Khongma Danda to Tashi Gaon (2070m)

Descend from Khongma Danda to Tashi Gaon, which takes around 5-6 hours. The trek offers a pleasant change in scenery and provides a chance to revisit the village of Tashi Gaon.

Day 18:

Trek from Tashi Gaon to Balung (760m)

Trek from Tashi Gaon to Balung in about 5-6 hours. This segment of the trek takes you through diverse terrain and traditional villages, leading to the lower altitude of Balung.

Day 19:

Trek from Balung to Pukuwa (1520m)

Continue your trek from Balung to Pukuwa, a journey that takes approximately 5-6 hours. The trail features scenic landscapes and provides a peaceful setting for rest.

Day 20:

Trek from Pukuwa to Bumling (370m)

Hike from Pukuwa to Bumling, which takes about 6-7 hours. This segment of the trek leads you through varied terrain and offers a chance to experience the local culture in Bumling.

Day 21:

Trek from Bumling to Tumlingtar (460m)

Complete your trek with a journey from Bumling back to Tumlingtar. This final trek takes approximately 5-6 hours. Celebrate your achievement as you reach Tumlingtar and reflect on the journey.

Day 22:

Flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu

Fly from Tumlingtar back to Kathmandu. The scenic flight offers a final opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas.

Day 23:

Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport
